Qinhuangdao Glass Industry Research and Design Institute Company Limited (QGRDI), which was founded in 1953, is one of the earliest major scientific and research institutes ever established in China. It is also the main inventor of LUOYANG FLOAT GLASS PROCESS OF CHINA, which owns the self owned property rights. Up to now, it is the largest and exclusive institute in China for research and design for glass industry, which is engaged not only in scientific research and design, but also in production and quality inspection. It is also the technological platform of China National Building Material Group Corporation (CNBM) and is the main part of glass business platform.In QGRDI there is a mineral processing pilot plant for float glass, State glass quality inspection and testing center and editorial department for journal GLASS, which is a national science and technology periodical on building materials.
The secretaries-general of National Insulated Glass Professional Committee, National Building Material Standardization Committee and China Decorative Glass Professional Committee are all from QGRDI. QGRDI is engaged in research and development for glass process, raw material process, fuel process, equipment and automatic control of glass production line, new glass products and processed glass etc., and undertakes engineering design, technical transformation, engineering consultation, engineering supervision and engineering contracting for various kinds of large size glass production enterprise, other building materials production enterprises, and industrial and civil buildings.
